DFW’s new source for local, organic artisan baked goods homemade near you! I am a microbakery currently operating from my kitchen in Fort Worth, Texas! Specializing in artisan sourdough breads and organic vegan/vegetarian friendly treats, my home bakery is compliant with the Texas Cottage Food Law and I am Food Handler Certified.
In 2011, Texas legislature passed the Texas Cottage Food Law allowing for homebakers across the state to legally sell non-hazardous baked goods (shelf stable items such as breads, cookies, & cakes) processed in their home kitchen locally. In 2013, the law was expanded to allow the sale of other potentially non-hazardous foodstuffs (candies, nuts, dry mixes, ect.) along with providing access to sell our wares in farmers markets, farm stands, and other community events.
The following is a list of items that are approved under the Texas Cottage Food Law:
- Baked goods that do not require refrigeration, such as cakes, cookies, breads, and pastries.
- Candy coated and uncoated nuts.
- Unroasted nut butters.
- Fruit butters.
- Canned jams and jellies.
- Fruit pies.
- Dehydrated fruits and vegetables including dried beans.
- Popcorn and popcorn snacks.
- Cereal, including granola.
- Dry mixes.
- Roasted coffee or dry tea.
- Dried herbs or herb mixes.
Items must be sold in person locally. If you live in the DFW area, we can meet in a convenient space or I’ll deliver straight to your door for a small fee based on your location. Online sales unfortunately are not allowed at this time. However, if you are an out of town friend that’s in dire need of bread or cookies, we can work out some type of bartering system that works for both of us! (Example: You ship me $50 worth of flour and I’ll send you the equivalent cost of your choice of baked goods.) So let me know if you have any requests!
